Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 5 July 2026

These terms apply when you engage Coln Clearances to carry out house clearance, rubbish removal, office clearance, appliance disposal, garage, shed or garden clearance in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire or the wider Cotswolds.

1. Who we are

Coln Clearances is a family-run house clearance business trading in the United Kingdom. Registered address: Star Lodge, Montpellier Dr, Cheltenham GL50 1TY. Contact: 01242 830849, info@colnclearances.co.uk.

2. Quotes and fixed pricing

All quotes are free and based on a site visit or the photographs you supply. Quotes are issued in writing (usually by email) and remain valid for 30 days from the date of issue.

Our price is a fixed, per-job price, not an hourly rate. If we have underestimated the work, we absorb the additional cost. If the property contains materially more or different contents than were represented at quote stage (for example, an undeclared full loft), we will discuss any required change before proceeding.

3. Cashback scheme

Where items with genuine resale value are identified during the quote, we will offset the estimated resale value directly from your quoted price. The offset appears on your written quote. Cashback is not payable in cash to you separately, it operates only as a reduction against the clearance price.

4. Curbside discount

If you move items to the roadside prior to our arrival, we will apply a curbside discount agreed at quote stage. Items left in the property that were expected at the curb do not affect the fixed price.

5. What we take and what we don't

We clear furniture, appliances, general household and office contents, garden furniture, greenhouses and sheds. We do not take grass cuttings, hedge trimmings or other green waste. Hazardous items such as paint, gas bottles and WEEE items are handled under our licence and may attract a specific handling fee, which will be shown on your quote.

6. Booking, cancellation and rescheduling

Bookings are usually made by phone or email once you have accepted your quote. We ask for at least 24 hours' notice for cancellation or rescheduling. Cancellations made on the day of the clearance may attract a modest travel and labour fee.

7. Access and safety

You are responsible for providing safe and legal access to the property. If access is unsafe, blocked or refused on the day, we may need to reschedule and a modest travel fee may apply. All of our team members work in line with the Health and Safety at Work Regulations.

8. Personal effects, valuables and paperwork

We check every room for wills, cash, jewellery, photographs and other personal effects before anything leaves the property. However, we strongly recommend that customers remove or secure known valuables, financial paperwork and irreplaceable items before the clearance date.

9. Waste transfer and compliance

All waste we collect is handled under our Licensed Waste Carrier permit. On request, and as standard for commercial and probate jobs, we issue a waste transfer note to satisfy your duty of care. WEEE items are disposed of in line with the WEEE directive.

10. Payment

Payment is due on completion of the clearance, unless we've agreed otherwise in writing (for example, on commercial invoicing terms). We accept cash, bank transfer and card.

11. Liability

We carry public liability insurance. In the unlikely event of damage caused by our team during a clearance, please contact us within seven days so we can investigate and put things right. Our liability is limited to the value of the clearance job.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will be handled in the courts of England and Wales.

13. Contact

Any questions about these terms, or about a clearance you're planning, please phone 01242 830849 or email info@colnclearances.co.uk.
